What We Do
Paideia Academy is a Shanghai-based international education counseling agency that offers bespoke study-abroad strategies and guidance for elite Chinese high schoolers and their families. Our approach is unique in China’s highly commercialized education counseling industry because we follow the student’s lead: our personalized advisory services help students shape their own trajectories and narratives to unlock their own potential rather than forcing unique students through restrictive, predetermined pathways. This way, we ensure that our students not only gain access to a high-quality international education, but also thrive within it—and beyond.Many students begin working with us as early as the 9th grade to strategize a path towards their intellectual or professional aspirations in collaboration with our in-house counselors in Shanghai. Other students join us for the first time in 12th grade to benefit from the targeted guidance of both in-house and international counselors as they leap headfirst into the life-changing process of applying to college abroad.
Who We Are
Paideia Academy was founded in 2018 by Lead Consultant Ms. Liang, who holds academic credentials from Harvard University and the University of Chicago, backed by over a decade of professional expertise and experience. Our in-house counselors in Shanghai hold diplomas from international universities and bring with them prior experience in the college admissions field. Most of our international writing mentors hold master's degrees from prestigious universities in the United States; all of them have extensive experience in tutoring and teaching, as well as deep knowledge of both academic and narrative writing.

Your editorial mentorship can change our students' lives.We're looking for international writing mentors who can guide seniors in crafting stand-out application essays that showcase their strengths, passion, and authentic individuality.In this part-time, seasonally contracted remote role, you'll guide elite high school seniors from China in revising the essays that bring their college applications to life. Through rigorous feedback addressing every level of their essays, from the conceptual and the structural to the nitty-gritty, your insight and direction will push students' essays to greater heights while respecting their agency and voice.We're particularly interested in applicants with strong academic backgrounds in writing and experience in writing instruction, tutoring, and editing. Candidates with completed or in-progress master's degrees in writing-related fields are especially encouraged to apply. Successful mentors are often invited to renew contracts for subsequent years; several current mentors have worked with us for 5+ years.Official job posting forthcoming.Interested?
